Girls Weekend, Valentines Day on the Farm, and Goodbye Q

Every year my mom gathers up the girls for a weekend of jigsaw puzzles, crafts, ice skating, mountains sunsets, baby deers and lots of wine (after the little girls are in bed of course).  This year was no exception.  G and I packed our bags said bye bye to the boys (Daddy and Cooper), then  jumped on a plane bound for Colorado.  Once we arrived we headed straight to Evergreen for our Ponderosa Pine filled weekend with Mom, Ang and the girls (Abby and Jena).  It's a good thing that our genetics cooperate because we're still not sure what we would do if one of us had a boy?  And although this year had it challenges, somehow it's not as relaxing a weekend as it used to be with all the pre-tween/toddlers running around, we still managed to finish a set a drapes for Angie's front room and allowed mom her cooking fix....mmmm mmmmm mmmm, I might add!

The weekend got me thinking about the importance of girls/women in my life. And how even though my husband is my rock, I still need time to overload on estrogen! It also got me thinking about how I don't spend enough time with "my girls" anymore. And how as years pass; bonds weaken, distance separates and babies are added to a once thriving group of women here in Utah; that I sadly say, I do not see many of anymore, but I do think of them often! The other day I was reminded of the joy and much needed energy this group supplied my being when I received a facebook message that simply said "I miss girls night." It amazing what that little phrase did to my psyche. I do too!

Mid February, Stefan's folks (AKA GMom and PapaD) came for a short but enjoyable visit. We spent Valentines day eating various heart shaped items and then walking them off at Wheeler Historic Farm.  G love, love, loved the duck-ducks! We were glad to have had the chance to celebrate a long awaited Christmas with them as well.

Their
visit had been delayed due to an illness that suddenly took over their Quincy dog.  The brave guy managed to pack himself up for the long car ride for the visit. We were glad he was able to make it; giving us a chance to see him and ultimately say our final goodbyes.  Poor thing passed away shortly after returning home...his kidneys just could not take it anymore. There is still no clear explanation what brought this illness on and soooo fast.  Such a sad ending for such a young dog. We will miss that spotted guy!
